Our Services
Consultation
A consultation is required before any treatment is started. This is so we can correctly and accurately diagnose the cause of your pain or infection. In complex cases, a 3D scan, or CBCT, is required as a conventional x-ray may not show us what we need to see.
Once we have established a diagnosis, we will discuss the predicted long term success of any treatment provided, potential risks during or after treatment, alternative treatment options and costs. We will also be able to address any concerns or queries you may have regarding your treatment.
In most cases, you do not need a separate consultation and treatment can be started on the same day, however this will be discussed when booking your appointment.

Root canal treatment
If a tooth becomes infected due to dental decay or injury, root canal treatment is required to remove infected tissue from the tooth, prevent reinfection and save the natural tooth.
Once the diseased tissue is removed, the space inside of the tooth is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. The root canal space is then filled and the tooth is restored with a white filling material. In most cases your dentist will need to place a crown (or cap) on the tooth to eliminate the risk of tooth fracture.

Root canal re-treatment
Teeth which have already had root canal treatment can last for decades with proper care. Occasionally, the initial root canal treatment may not work as expected. This can be caused by incomplete root canal treatment due to undetected & complicated root canal anatomy, or re-infection of the root canal by a lost filling or new tooth decay under an existing crown or filling.
In these cases, your tooth still has a chance of being saved. The previous root canal filling can be removed by advanced instruments and the tooth disinfected and re-filled. As with normal root canal treatment, a crown (or new crown if you have an existing one) is often required.
For complicated re-treatments, a consultation and 3D scan is sometimes required to be able to discuss the treatment and success rates in detail.
